SAN FRANCISCO – DEC. 15, 2009 – MuleSoft, the Web Middleware Company, today announced the availability of its Tcat Server 6 R2, the latest release of its enterprise-class web application server based on Apache Tomcat. With this release, Tcat Server gives Tomcat users new enterprise-class functionality, including automated configuration management capabilities, remote Tomcat server restart capabilities, and programmatic deployment and configuration of Tomcat servers via a powerful new REST API.
According to a recent Computerworld survey, over one-third of IT and business leaders currently using Oracle WebLogic or IBM WebSphere are likely to switch to a new production platform in the next two years, citing vendor lock-in, high cost, and difficulty of management as top reasons for dissatisfaction. Based 100% on the Apache Tomcat binary, with zero changes to the core code, Tcat Server allows IT teams to migrate from these legacy platforms to the lightweight and open source Tomcat. The Amazon EC2 plug-in for deploying Tcat Server in the cloud enables cloud users to quickly configure, monitor and diagnose Tomcat using a web browser from any remote location. With this product, the migration of tomcat applications to cloud environments is now seamless and transparent.
